Woman wounded after shooting on 91 Freeway in Carson
One person was injured during a shooting on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Carson today according to the California Highway Patrol.
The call came out in Carson as shots fired around 10:30 a.m. When officers got to the victims in their black Kia on the 91 Freeway, they found a woman that had been hit at least once and a man who was behind the wheel.
"The victims say that they were traveling eastbound on the 91 at Main Street when the suspect vehicle traveled along the right side of their vehicle and [fired shots] towards their vehicle. The suspect fled the scene," said Angelia Gonzales, a CHP officer.
The victim, a 37-year old from Torrance, is in serious condition but will survive. The highway patrol can't say whether this is a case of road rage or whether the gunman is male or female.
The getaway car is a black sedan which is the same color as the suspect's car in a fatal shooting overnight on the 710 Freeway in Cudahy.
The 91 Freeway was closed for about three hours as officers paced off the stretch of the highway looking for evidence.
"At this time we do know that the suspect vehicle is a black sedan, unknown make and model," said Gonzales. "Our investigators are currently working to review any camera footage to identify the number of occupants in the other vehicle."
The CHP says that it has nothing to connect the two freeway shootings, but it's early in the investigation. Both of the suspected drivers involved in the freeway shootings are on the run.
