Sheriff: Standoff With Santa Clarita Burglary Suspect Ends In Suicide

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — A burglary at a Santa Clarita home ended in an apparent suicide overnight, officials said.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home in the 26000 block of Iron Canyon Road Sunday night.

The homeowner, who had just returned from vacation, suspected someone was inside the house and called 911.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside.

When SWAT and deputies entered the home, they found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No other injuries were reported.
