Serial Bank Robber On The Loose In Orange County
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — The FBI and Orange County authorities are after a man they suspect is responsible for bank robberies in Santa Ana and Orange this week.
The first heist took place around 4 p.m. Tuesday at a Farmers & Merchants Bank branch in Orange, located at 1220 East Katella Avenue, according to Laura Eimiller of the FBI.
The man reportedly passed a note saying he was robbing the bank. The only words he uttered were: "100s and 50s."
The robber fled on foot to the right of the bank.
The second robbery happened around 3:40 p.m. Thursday at a Bank of the West branch in Orange, at 103 East Memory Lane, Eimiller said.
Authorities have released photos of the suspect, who they described as white, between 20 and 25 years old, and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slender build. He's said to have a light complexion and his face was clean-shaven at the time. In both cases, he wore eyeglasses and dark clothing. In Tuesday's heist, he donned a dark hat with an orange bill and what appeared to be the word "Miami" written in orange on the front. During Thursday's robbery, he wore a blue baseball cap with a Dallas Cowboys-style star logo.
The Bank Robbery Apprehension Team in Orange County, which brings together investigators from the FBI and the Orange County Sheriff's Department, is probing the crimes and encouraging anyone with tips to contact local authorities.
