Masked Suspect Robs Wells Fargo Bank In Santa Monica, Evades Police
SANTA MONICA (CBSLA) — A masked man with gun who robbed a Santa Monica bank apparently made a successful getaway Tuesday.
The bank robbery at a Wells Fargo bank in the 900 block of Montana near 9th was first reported just before 10 a.m. when a masked suspect entered the branch with a "shotgun type firearm" and demanded cash, according to Santa Monica police.
Police established a search perimeter in the area which includes Roosevelt Elementary School, which was placed on lockdown.
The suspect was caught on surveillance video wearing a skull mask.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., police announced they did not find the suspect and lifted a shelter-in-place order.
"We understand this has been very stressful on the community and appreciate your patience and understanding", police said on Twitter. "We will continue to provide updates should any additional information become available."
No injuries were reported. It's unknown how much cash was taken.
