4 Killed In Small Plane Crash Near Santa Clarita
SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA/AP) — Authorities say four people were killed after a small plane crashed near Agua Dulce, a mountain town about 40 miles north of Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department says the private plane went down in a remote area.
The department confirms four fatalities and says the coroner and Federal Aviation Administration officials are responding.
The crash occurred just before 11 a.m.
CBS2's Adrianna Weingold said the coroner was removing the bodies of the victims at 5 p.m.
The victims included two male adults, a female adult and a child under 10-year-old.
FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the aircraft was manufactured by Cirrus but he did not immediately have additional details about the crash.
Kenitzer says the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
The plane was registered to a pilot in Winnetka. Officials at Van Nuys Airport said the plane was kept in the hanger at that location.
The victims have been identified as Tom Hastings, his daughter, Amber; her husband and their daughter.
Weingold reported that the NTSB was expected to arrive Monday.
