CBS News Los Angeles

Police have announced an arrest in the death of a 35-year-old man that happened back in March. They're still looking for more possible suspects

On Friday, Ruben Oswaldo Cielo was charged with a felony count of shooting at another person from a motor vehicle along with sentencing enhancements for gang activity and a gang member's vicarious discharged of a gun causing great bodily injury, according to police.

He is accused of participating in the deadly shooting of 35-year-old Johnny Daniel Mercado on March 29.

Cielo was arrested last Wednesday and booked at the Santa Ana Jail. He did not enter a plea during his arraignment on Friday. It has been rescheduled for Dec. 30.

At the time of the shooting, police said that Mercado was found dead after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body near the intersection of Jetty Drive and Trask Avenue.

As their investigation and search for additional suspects continues, police ask anyone who may know more to contact them at (714) 245-8390. The case is eligible for the county's Gang Homicide Reward Program, which offers between $100 and $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest of gang homicide suspects.
