Santa Ana-Anaheim Area Ranks 4th On TIME's List Of 'Selfiest Cities'
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — The Anaheim-Santa Ana area has been ranked fourth on TIME's first-ever list of the world's top 100 "selfiest cities."
The self-shot photos popular among social media users worldwide prompted the weekly news magazine to probe the origin of "selfies" on Instragram.
"To investigate the geography of selfie-taking, TIME built a database of more than 400,000 Instagram photos tagged "selfie" that included geographic coordinates," according to TIME.
Makati City, Philippines, came in first with 258 selfie-takers per 100,000 people; Manhattan, N.Y., came in at No. 2 with 202 per 100,000 people; and Miami, Fla., was close behind with 155 per 100,000 people.
The Anaheim-Santa Ana area, which is home to Disneyland and several resorts, had 147 takers per 100,000 people.
Other notable cities include: San Francisco (No. 11), Oakland, (No. 27), Riverside (No. 35), Sacramento (No. 76), San Diego (No. 82), and San Jose (No. 91).
