San Diego To Pay $250K To Settle Filner Suit

SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego will pay $250,000 to a woman who claimed she was sexually harassed by former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner.

The settlement announced Monday ends a lawsuit filed by Irene McCormack Jackson, but harassment suits by two more women are pending.

Jackson was the disgraced mayor's former communications director and the first of nearly 20 women to go public with harassment allegations last year.

She claimed that Filner asked her to work without panties, demanded kisses, told her he wanted to see her naked and dragged her in a headlock while whispering in her ear.

City Attorney Jan Goldsmith says McCormack is "courageous" for coming forward.

In exchange for Filner's resignation last year, the city agreed to pay his legal fees in a joint defense of the lawsuit.
