San Bernardino Woman Arrested For Allegedly Shooting At Man During Argument

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A 35-year-old woman was in custody Sunday for her alleged attempt to fatally shoot a man in San Bernardino.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent around 6:58 a.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Melrose Drive, for report of shots fired.

When officials arrived to the scene, they learned the suspect -- later identified as Mary Jane Gonzalez -- and the victim spent several hours drinking alcohol prior to the incident.

A preliminary investigation revealed Gonzalez retrieved a firearm from her home after an argument ensued. She allegedly threatened to shoot the victim, and fired off two rounds at him.

Police said the victim was not injured during the shooting.

Deputies located evidence at the scene that indicated a weapon had been fired. They later located a handgun that was consistent with the fired cartridge casings.

Gonzalez was subsequently arrested, and is being held at the Central Detention Center for attempted murder.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective Brian Chambers or Deputy Chase Ash at the Sheriff's Central Station.
