San Bernardino Firefighters Engaged With Second Alarm Commercial Fire

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA) — San Bernardino County Fire Department crews were engaged with an abandoned commercial structure fire near I-215 Freeway Sunday.

The Second Alarm fire was reported just before 5:45 p.m. on University Parkway and as of 7:30 p.m. crews were still engaged with the blaze.

Due to the heavy fire activity and lack of progress, crews were forced into defensive mode after several minutes on scene.

When crews arrived heavy smoke and fire could be seen escaping from the roof of the building.

Eleven firetrucks were on scene, three of which were ladder trucks that rose high above the flames as units attempted to control the situation from above.

With Sky9 overhead, the majority of the building's roof could be seen completely caved-in.

No injuries were reported.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
