CBS News Los Angeles

A San Bernardino County man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in early September was arrested in Arizona over the weekend.

Deputies were dispatched to the Klickitat Avenue and Quinnault Road at around 3:15 a.m. back on Sept. 2 after learning of a shooting in the area, according to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

They arrived and found a man, since identified as 39-year-old Oro Grande man Jonathan Cuevas, suffering from a gunshot wound inside of a car.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later declared dead.

After some investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as 35-year-old Anthony Lopez. They learned that Cuevas had arrived in the area to pick up a friend when he was shot by Lopez, who fled the scene and remained outstanding until the weekend.

He was located in Bullhead, Arizona at around 7 p.m. on Sept. 6, where was arrested by U.S. Marshall's Fugitive Task Force officers. He was booked into the Mohave County Jail in Arizona, where he awaits extradition.

Anyone who may know more is asked to contact detectives at (909) 890-4904.
