Rossmoor Woman Convicted For Murdering Her 96-Year-Old Mother
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A Santa Ana jury on Thursday convicted a 72-year-old Rossmoor woman for the murder of her 96-year-old mother last year.
A jury found Christine Marie Reynolds guilty of one felony count of first degree murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death.
Reynolds faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in state prison when she faces a judge in Santa Ana on December 18.
Senior Deputy DA Keith Burke said Reynolds shot her mother -- Gretchen DeStefano -- in the head approximately 4:15 p.m. on August 28, 2014.
Shortly after the shooting, another residence in the home contacted the OC Sheriff's Department who investigated and arrested Reynolds.
