'Rolled Up Sleeves Bandit' Sought By Police In 2 OC Bank Robberies

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A man nick named by the FBI as the "Rolled Up Sleeves Bandit" was sought by police on Thursday for allegedly robbing two banks in Huntington Beach.

According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, officers were sent around 12:18 p.m. Wednesday to the Bank of the West, located in the 19000 block of Brookhurst Street, for report of a bank robbery that had just occurred.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank and passed a note, which stated he had a gun, to a teller.

Police said the teller proceeded to give the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash before he left on foot in an unknown direction from the bank.

Detectives described the suspect as a white man in his mid 40s with dark hair, stands 6-feet-tall, and weighs no more than 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a pink dress shirt.

Around 4:58 p.m. Thursday, officers explained they responded to a U.S. Bank, located in the 19900 block of Beach Boulevard, for report of a robbery.

The suspect accused of robbing this location matched a similar physical description from the Bank of the West robbery, however, he was wearing a different shirt during this crime.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect passed a similar note demanding cash from the teller, and fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No gun or suspect vehicle were seen by witnesses during either robbery.

According to the FBI, this suspect has been linked to several robberies in the Los Angeles area.

Police believe he also robbed the Citibank branch, located in the 20900 block of Magnolia Street, in December 2014.
