Attempted robbery victim hit by vehicle in West Hollywood

Investigation continues after suspects attempt to rob man, run him over in West Hollywood

Authorities are searching for two men who stole jewelry from a man at gunpoint and then hit him with their vehicle in West Hollywood early Friday.

The incident occurred at around 9:10 a.m. in the 9000 block of Sunset Boulevard, when the victim was approached at gunpoint when he was standing next to his car, a Tesla, in a parking lot. The suspect had pulled up in a gray four-door sedan, possibly an Infiniti, exiting from the driver's side.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows the victim running through the parking lot following a brief struggle with one of the suspects. The second suspect then got out of their vehicle and gave chase.

Both suspects eventually ran back to the vehicle and drove after the victim, running him over.

He rolled over the windshield of the car before landing on the street, where he tried to scramble away from one of the victims who ran after him.

At some point during one of the altercations, the victim was able to wrestle the gun away from his assailants, which authorities recovered at the scene.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive injuries suffered during the collision, according to Los Angeles Fire Department.

Witnesses at the scene told CBS that the victim works in an office nearby, and parks in the same parking lot every day.

One man recounts running for help after witnessing the frightening incident.

"They were running back and forth and I was trying to go get some help to stop these things," said Mark Issari. "Then they went to the street and the car riding hit him and ran away."

The suspects are currently at large. They were last seen fleeing eastbound on Sunset Boulevard.
