Rizzo Pleads Guilty To Tax Fraud Charges

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Disgraced former Bell city manger Robert Rizzo Monday pleaded guilty to charges that he filed a false federal income-tax return.

Rizzo, 59, admitted in a plea agreement last month that he created a corporation to fraudulently claim losses on his tax returns.

The IRS suffered losses of approximately $450,000 for the years 2006 through 2010, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Last October, he pleaded no contest to 69 other counts in connection with a corruption scandal that drove the city of Bell to the brink of bankruptcy.

Rizzo faces up to 12 years in federal prison. Sentencing was scheduled for March 10 in U.S. District Court.
