Reports Of Man With Machete Prompts Lockdown Of 2 Santa Ana Schools
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Two schools were briefly put on lockdown Tuesday while police tracked down a man who was allegedly threatening people with a machete in Santa Ana.
Police were alerted about 11 a.m., Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
"We got a call of a guy threatening people with a machete, and when he walked away from a group, (the police) helicopter followed him" until officers on the ground could corral the suspect, Bertagna said.
Edison Elementary School and Chavez High School, which are just a few blocks away from each other, were placed on lockdown, but were reopened following the arrest, Bertagna said.
The suspect's name was not immediately released.
