Repairs Continue On Metro Blue Line Tracks Following Derailment
WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA.com) — Repairs on the Metro Blue Line tracks and train systems are continuing Tuesday following a car-train crash at Willowbrook Avenue and 119th Street, according to Metro.
A car made what authorities called an illegal left turn onto the tracks at about 7:30 a.m. Monday, colliding with a southbound train whose front car derailed, casing heavy damage to the tracks and equipment.
The vehicle's driver was injured and taken to a hospital, and no one aboard the train was injured, Metro's Jose Ubaldo said.
Repairs were originally expected to take several hours, but Metro announced late Monday that buses would take passengers between the Rosa Parks and Compton stations through the night and into Tuesday morning's commuter rush.
