Real Estate Heir Robert Durst Comes To LA For Murder Charge

LOS ANGELES (AP) — New York real estate heir Robert Durst has made his long-awaited arrival in California to face charges of killing a friend 16 years ago.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says Durst was locked up in a county jail Friday.

He's scheduled to face arraignment Monday for the killing of friend Susan Berman in 2000.

His attorney Dick DeGuerin has said Durst is eager to get to California and prove he didn't kill Berman.

Durst, already well-known in New York, became a national name when HBO aired a documentary about him and suspicions of several alleged crimes in 2015. He was arrested early the morning that the final episode aired.

In April, Durst pleaded guilty in New Orleans to a federal weapons charge and got seven years in prison and had been serving time in Indiana.
