Real Estate Broker Gets Lots Of Attention With Eye-Opening Ad Mentioning Donald Trump

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com)  —  A Southland real estate broker is getting a lot of attention for his marketing tactics by using Donald Trump's name to to help drum up business.

On Thursday evening, KCAL9's Peter Daut spoke to Henry Ayala, the broker who came up with the ad that has gone viral.

"It's surprising, basically," Ayala says.

The broker says he's neutral when it comes to politics, but he is not above tapping into the emotions of the presidential election to market himself.

"I figured why not take advantage of it?," he says.

Ayala works at Excellence Real Estate in Downey.

On Wednesday, he posted a graphic on his professional Facebook page with the message: "Leaving the country if TRUMP is elected PRESIDENT? Give us a call and LET'S GET YOUR HOME SOLD!!!"

The broker insists he wasn't trying to be political.

"It wasn't intended as any type of statement other than I'd love to get your home sold if, in fact, you want to get it sold," he explains.

The post has been viewed more than 3,100 times and generated dozens of comments, including:

"Greatest add ever!!!"
"Brilliant marketing"
"Maybe you should do one for Hillary [Clinton] too, that way you reach more clientele"

Love Trump or hate him, this ad struck a nerve with the public.

"Other things don't get as many views. I'm usually in the one, two hundreds, and this one just took off," says Ayala.

Many people, average Joes to celebrities, have threatened to leave the United States if Trump is elected.

And while Ayala didn't want to express his own opinion about Trump, he says the ad was a business thing.

"I'm just glad that it got a response, because it was fun," he says.

So far, Ayala says, no one wanting to leave the country has reached out to him. And in the next few days, he says he plans to create similar ads featuring Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
