Rain-Related Fender Bender Causes Massive Traffic Jam On 60 Freeway

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a rain-related fender bender on Thursday evening caused a massive traffic tie-up on the 60 Freeway in Whittier.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky2, said the accident occurred at the 60 Freeway at the 605 interchange.

A minor accident involving a big rig truck closed off several lanes.

The truck spun out and then struck a center divider after also hitting a big rig.

Mundel said once drivers passed the accident site, the roads were moving rather smoothly.

He cautioned anyone planning to drive on the 6o or 605 to give themselves plenty of time.

"Just because you're on the freeway doesn't mean you have to drive freeway speeds," he warned, "keep it slow, keep it simple."
