Raiders Sign 2 Players, Trade WR To Cowboys

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Oakland Raiders have traded wide receiver Brice Butler to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a conditional late-round draft pick, and have also signed two defensive players.

The move comes after the Cowboys lost their star wide-out Dez Bryant to a broken right foot.

Butler did not play in the Raiders opener, and was a seventh-round draft pick in the 2013 NFL draft.

In two seasons with the Raiders, Butler had 30 catches for 383 yards.

The team also lost starters Charles Woodson, Nate Allen, and Justin Ellis to injuries they suffered in their week one match against the Bengals.

In response to the injuries, the team signed safety Taylor Mays and defensive lineman C.J. Wilson on Tuesday.

Both were cut just two weeks ago by the Raiders in an effort to trim the roster down to get ready for the new season.

Nate Allen was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, and Charles Woodson dislocated his shoulder.

Both are expected to return at some point during the regular season.

Mays, who attended USC, has played in 66 career NFL games after being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2nd round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
