75 protesters detained after blocking the 110 Freeway in downtown LA

75 protesters demanding cease-fire in Gaza were detained after blocking the southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway at 3rd Street in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday morning, according to CHP.

The protest caused thousands of drivers to get stuck on the freeway for 90 minutes before multiple lanes reopened around 10:30 a.m. 

Southbound traffic was backed up past Dodger Stadium before the CHP reopened all lanes around 11:30 a.m. 

The California Highway Patrol responded to the protest shortly after 9 a.m. and started detaining protesters after they refused to clear the road. 

SkyCAL flew over the scene showing protesters sitting down and linking arms. A giant Menorah was also placed in the middle of the street.

A group called IfNotNow Los Angeles held the protest and said they wanted "to demand that all of our elected officials call for a lasting ceasefire and an end to U.S. support for Israel's war on Gaza." 

Additional officers were called to the scene after the protest was called an unlawful assembly and several protesters were peacefully detained after they failed to disperse.

Authorities said buses were also sent to the scene to get some of the protesters off of the freeway.
