Homicide investigation underway after man fatally stabbed outside liquor store in Santa Clarita

Victim of fatal stabbing in Santa Clarita over weekend identified

Authorities on Sunday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a man in the Santa Clarita area late Saturday evening.

The incident was reported just after 11:30 p.m. at Dooly's Liquor & Market, located in the 22500 block of 14th Street, where deputies were dispatched after learning of men fighting.

Once there, the victim was discovered suffering from multiple apparent stab wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

On Monday, deputies identified the victim as 25-year-old Newhall resident Eduardo Rosario Becerril.

"Santa Clarita station deputies detained persons of interest and investigators are continuing the investigations," said a statement from LASD.

Family members started a GoFundMe for Becerril's family on Monday. 

"His sudden death has come as complete devastation to the entire family. Eduardo was a kind and gentle person who was such a light in everyone's lives. He brought so much joy, laughter, and kindness everywhere he went," the GoFundMe page said. He touched the lives of everyone he encountered with his selfless and compassionate nature.

The fundraiser can be found by searching for the keywords "Eduardo Rosario Becerril."
