Pro Skateboarder Pleads Guilty In Domestic Violence Case

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Punk rock singer and professional skateboarder Duane Thomas Peters pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of domestic violence involving an incident with his live-in girlfriend at the home in Long Beach.

Peters, 52, was immediately sentenced by Superior Court Judge Laura Laesecke to a one-year domestic violence counseling program, with 60 days of community service and five years probation.

Peters was additionally ordered to stay away from the woman for a period of 10 years, according to the office of the District Attorney.

Neighbors reportedly intervened in the incident after hearing a commotion just before midnight on Feb. 7, and were able to restrain Peters until police arrived on the scene.

The woman suffered moderate injuries, according to authorities.

Peters — so-called "The Master of Disaster" — is commonly considered a pioneer of innovative skateboarding tricks. He was the frontman of the band U.S. Bombs, which formed in 1993. In 2000, Peters formed a new band, Duane Peters and the Hunns, who later changed their name to Die Hunns.
