Land Declaration Wraps Up 2-Day Obama Visit

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — President Barack Obama wrapped up a two-day visit to the Southland Friday.

Obama spent the night Thursday at the W Hotel in Westwood, then attended a $15,000-per-ticket round table event Friday at the Holmby Hills home of restaurateur Michael Chow.

He then traveled by helicopter to San Dimas, where he declared 346,000 acres in the San Gabriel Mountains a national monument.

Obama then departed for San Francisco from LAX around 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, officials said a hard closure will remain in effect through 6 p.m. Friday along Hilgard Avenue between Le Conte and Weyburn avenues in the Westwood Village.

Obama's visit is his 20th to Los Angeles or Orange counties since taking office in 2009.
