Pomona Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder
POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday announced the arrest of a 46-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
Just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were sent to the 1700 block of East Mission Boulevard for report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Pomona Police Department.
Upon their arrival, police located a male victim -- who was later identified as Albert Daniel Herrera, 36, of Pomona -- suffering from multiple stab wounds to his body.
Herrera was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A motive has not yet been determined," explained Sgt. Vince Terrell. "Currently, it is unknown if this incident is related to the previously reported attempted homicide case."
According to police, George Hernandez, of Pomona, was identified as a suspect, and was subsequently taken into custody.
On Monday, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office formally charged him with Herrera's murder.
Hernandez is currently awaiting court proceedings, officials said.
The investigation is ongoing.
