Cal Poly Pomona Dorms Locked Down During Search For Suspected Car Thieves
POMONA (CBSLA.com) — A campus housing area at Cal Poly Pomona was placed on lockdown Thursday evening as deputies searched for suspected car thieves running from authorities.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, five people stole a silver Honda and led deputies on a chase about 4:30 p.m.
The stolen vehicle crashed in the area of Valley Boulevard and Temple Avenue. Five people got out and ran. Three were arrested shortly after.
The other two suspects ran into the University Village campus housing complex trying to elude deputies. Students, faculty and staff were told to shelter in place while deputies searched for the outstanding suspects..
Shortly before 10 p.m., a fourth suspect was arrested as he tried to blend in with students at the dorms, deputies said.
Deputies also searched a nearby mobile home park, looking for the fifth suspect.
