Police Warn CSUN Students To Be On Lookout After Attempted Kidnapping

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Police on Saturday warned Cal State Northridge students to be aware of their surroundings after an attempted kidnapping on Thursday.

Police said the crime happened on the southeast corner of Lindley and Lassen Thursday around 4:00 PM.

"The victim was walking along Lassen Street when a vehicle approached her and slowly drove next to her," CSUN police said in an email to students. "An unknown male riding as a passenger attempted to talk to the victim, but the victim ignored him and continued walking. The male passenger exited the vehicle and chased after the victim along Lassen Street."

"The victim outran the male and made it to a family member who was waiting further down on Lassen Street. The male left in an unknown direction. The victim was not hurt during the incident. The next day the victim reported the incident to Police Services," the statement continued.

The suspects' vehicle was described as an older model white Toyota Camry with tinted windows.
