Police Seek Help To Identify Alleged Burglar In OC

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Wednesday to identify a man accused of stealing money from a restaurant in Huntington Beach.

According to the Huntington Beach Police Department,  around 12:56 p.m. on Feb. 14, a suspect entered the back of Reef's Edge restaurant, located in the 19100 block of Magnolia Street.

A preliminary investigation revealed the restaurant was closed for business at the time, but the back door was left open for ventilation while an employee was prepping food.

Authorities explained surveillance video shows the suspect enter the back of the restaurant, and proceed to take a large amount of case from a safe located in an office.

Officers said the suspect fled from the back door, however, now vehicle was seen.

According to police, Fountain Valley reported a similar crime at a restaurant towards the end of January.

The suspect seen through video surveillance in both crimes appears to be the same person, authorities explained.

Detectives described the suspect as a black man between the ages of 40 and 60-years-old. He has a bald or shaved head, medium build, and stands 5-foot-8 tall.
