Police searching for hit-and-run driver who killed 58-year-old man in Westminster

Authorities are searching for the hit-and-run driver who killed a man in Westminster late Monday. 

It happened at around 10:20 p.m. near Westminster Boulevard and Yockey Street, in between Newland Street and Magnolia Street, according to the Westminster Police Department. 

"Upon arrival, officers located a male suspect down in the lanes of Westminster Boulevard," said a statement from police. 

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. 

He was identified as 58-year-old homeless man Hoang Xuan Tran, by the Orange County Coroner's Department. 

Police say that a newer model, dark-colored sedan drove away from the scene prior to their arrival. They say it was headed eastbound on Westminster Boulevard.
