SWAT searches for bank robbery suspects in Anaheim

Authorities are searching for bank robbery suspects who led them on a brief pursuit from Brea to Anaheim on Friday morning. 

Brea Police Department contacted Anaheim police at around 9 a.m. to ask for assistance with the pursuit after a Wells Fargo Bank, located in the 200 block of S. State College Boulevard, was targeted by the suspects. 

Officers from both departments, assisted by SWAT, pursued the suspects until about 10:30 a.m., when the suspects hopped out of the car, at State College Blvd. and Gene Autry Way, and ran on foot. 

As they searched for the suspects, police set a large perimeter in the area, blocking traffic on several streets and warning residents to shelter in place. 

Irvine Police Department officers were also on scene to assist with the search. 

A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Investigation said that the two suspects being sought may be linked to a holdup that occurred at a different Wells Fargo branch located on 2535 N. Tustin Street in Orange. 

"It's a similar M.O., similar to a robbery in Orange back in May," said Laura Eimiller. "They may be linked based on the M.O."
