Bomb threat triggers lockdown at Simi Valley High School

Simi Valley High School on lockdown

Simi Valley High School went on lockdown Wednesday morning after police received a phone call about a bomb threat at the campus.

Officers and K-9 units searched the school over several hours and found no evidence of a bomb, according to police. SkyCAL was overhead as police dogs sniffed around buildings and officers led students onto the football field bleachers just after 9 a.m.

In a message to the campus community, Simi Valley United School District officials said students and staff were "calmly evacuated" to the school's stadium while police searched every building inside and outside the immediate area of the campus. K-9 units performed a search of each structure.

"Nothing was found, and after several hours, the school was pronounced clear and safe," district officials said. "Students returned to their classrooms and the school day resumed as normal."

Earlier, as police continued the search, some nearby roads were closed. At the time, officials said parents should not come to the campus and everyone should stay clear of the area.
