Police Puzzled After Man Found On Riverside Road With Severe Head Wound
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Police in Riverside are puzzled after a man was discovered lying in the middle of a road, alone and badly injured.
Bryan Nielson, 41, remains hospitalized with a severe brain injury months after he was found in his critical state March 13 by a passerby. He was discovered on Eastridge Avenue near Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, which is nowhere near his work or home.
Despite having been found in an industrial area, police say they have no video evidence to aid them in their investigation, stating that any surveillance cameras were either not facing Nielson or were not active.
"It had to be an intentional attack," Bryan's father Breck said.
Police point out that Nielson's vehicle, a burgundy Thunderbird with white primer patches, is missing and suggest he may have been the victim of a carjacking.
His parents, meanwhile, say their son is in need of a miracle and are reaching out to the community for help.
"One time he said 'Mama,' we had a hope, and he said 'Dad,' but we don't think he knows who we are," Bryan's mother Linda said. "If somebody could just give us a hint or call somebody."
