Police On The Hunt For Home Invasion Robber Who Beat Elderly Woman's Face

NORWALK (CBSLA.com)  —   Police in Norwalk are on the hunt for a brazen home invasion robber who also attacked an elderly woman.

KCAL9's Jennifer Kastner spoke to the 81-year-old victim's son about his mother's ordeal.

Kastner was given a tour of the Norwalk home on Mapledale Street by Rizwan Khan.

Inside the ransacked bedroom, she was shown a series of drawers all pulled out and askew. In another room, paper towels all splattered with blood dot the floor.

Khan says his mother was beaten until she was knocked to the floor. He also said she suffered several fractures around her eye.

He says she is doing okay now, but still in a lot of pain following the Friday afternoon assault.

A neighbor said he heard three loud bangs coming from the property.

"I'd never heard anything like it. It  seemed a little odd and out of place for this neighborhood but...," said David Hann.

The LA County Sheriff's Department says at least one burglar broke in and ransacked a room but then got startled. When he discovered the person in the home was an elderly woman, he assaulted her and then took off.

Detectives told Kastner one of the victim's sons was also at home at the time of the attack -- but he didn't see it or hear it because he was in the shower.

The victim was taken to St. Francis Medical Center and she is expected to make a full recovery. She is expected to be released in 2-3 days.

If you know anything about the break-in or the suspect, you're asked to call the Norwalk Sheriff's Station.
