Police: Man Suspected Of Propositioning Male Students At Diamond Bar High May Have More Victims

DIAMOND BAR (CBSLA.com) — A man was arrested on suspicion of propositioning male students at Diamond Bar High School, and authorities said Friday he may have more victims.

Reynato Garcia, 35, of Diamond Bar, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of communicating with a minor for sexual purposes, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said Friday. He is currently free after posting $15,000 bail.

Authorities say Diamond Bar High School's principal reported in November that a man was loitering outside the campus and propositioning male students. Initially, he offered the boys jobs, but the communication became sexual in nature, with the suspect offering money to the boys to perform sex acts with him on several occasions, sheriff's officials said.

Detectives ultimately assumed the identity of one of the victims, and they subsequently identified suspect as Garcia and discovered he would be traveling to Hawaii, authorities said.

Garcia was arrested as he passed through security at Los Angeles International Airport.

Authorities believe there may be more victims. Anyone with information about Garcia or this case can contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273.
