Man Shot To Death While Out Walking In Glendale; Search On For Gunman

GLENDALE (CBSLA) — Police are searching for a suspect who snuck up behind two men Monday night while they was out walking in a residential Glendale neighborhood and opened fire, killing one of them.

The shooting happened at around 9:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of Boynton Street.

According to Glendale police, the victim and another man were out walking when the suspect crept up behind them and opened fire. He then turned and ran away. One of the men died at the scene, the second was unhurt, police said. The victim's name was not released.

The two men had just visited family for dinner and were leaving, according to Glendale police Sgt. Dan Suttles. The family heard the gunshots and rushed outside, police said. The relationship between the two men was unconfirmed.

Suttles said it does not appear the shooter said anything to the men. Police are unsure on a motive or whether the two men knew the suspect.

The suspect is described as a man in his 50s wearing glasses and a dark shirt. He remains at large.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call police.
