Elderly Man Shot And Killed, Another Wounded In Encino Home Invasion
ENCINO (CBSLA) - Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were investigating a home invasion robbery that resulted in a fatal shooting at an Encino residence Wednesday night.
The incident was reported at 5:15 p.m., according to police, at a home in the 4500 block of Densmore Avenue.
An elderly man in his 80s was shot and killed, while another victim in his 60s was pistol whipped, according to authorities.
Police said that the suspect vehicle was a white SUV that pulled into the driveway, and that there were no signs of forced entry into the home, but that multiple shots were fired.
It is unclear how the victims know each other, but the man in his 60's attempted to render aid to the now deceased victim.
A concerned neighbor, Rabbi Yossi Malka, spoke to CBSLA about the incident.
"First of all, we're just sad for the person who lost his life. It's insane. From what I understand, he's an elderly person. It makes no difference of age, it just shouldn't have happened. We're very concerned for our safety and I think that all of us in the neighborhood just have to keep extra eyes, lock our doors, make sure that we're all just keeping safe," he said.
Police are investigating this as a home invasion robbery, though it is not known if anything was taken from the residence, according to Detective Sharon Kim.
Neither of the victims have yet been identified.
