Authorities identified the victim as Javier Indalecio. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The family said Indalecio, who was a father in his 20s, was not involved in a gang but had an alcohol problem, which is why did not live with them.
According to authorities, the man was drinking beer at the time of the incident.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
