Police Chase Forgery Suspect Around San Fernando Valley

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities pursued a man suspect in forgery in and around the San Fernando Valley.

The chase started around 4:45 p.m. on the westbound 134 Freeway at Orange Grove, officials said.

The suspect was believed to have been armed.

Authorities said the man was wanted for a possible forgery at a Kohl's store in the Chino area.

The man in a red SUV was chased through Chino, Pasadena, Burbank, Studio City, Sherman Oaks and North Hollywood.

Reporting in Sky2, Stu Mundel said the CHP had two helicopter chasing the suspect.

The suspect was driving "rather normally," Mundel reported.

When he got to Studio City, he began driving a little more erratically as authorities closed the distance between him on side streets.

In Sherman Oaks, as the chase hit the hour mark, the suspect ran into heavy traffic.

At one point, a pedestrian appeared to hurl something at the driver's side window. It was unclear if the object, possibly a water bottle, made contact with the vehicle or the driver.

Police surrounded his vehicle and ordered the man out.

The unidentified man complied and was taken into custody.
