Police Arrest Woman Suspected Of Robbing Garden Grove Bank

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) —  A woman suspected of robbing a Garden Grove bank at gunpoint Tuesday morning was arrested shortly after, thanks to the quick action of two bank tellers.

Police said Mary Lynn Taber, 55, held up the Farmers & Merchants Bank at 10422 Garden Grove Boulevard shortly before 11 a.m.

She was wearing sunglasses and had a pink scarf wrapped around her head.

The accused bandit took $500 and got away  in a dark-colored 4-door Saturn, according to Garden Grove police Sgt. Ron Echavarria.

As the suspect drove off, the two bank tellers recorded the getaway car on their mobile phones. "How should I say this? Courageous and they videotaped the car that was leaving the parking lot," said Cathy Kramer of the FBI.

The tellers immediately handed the footage over to police who said they caught up with the suspected robber an hour later at her Anaheim apartment and arrested her.

Police recovered a rifle, which turned out to be fake, and cash in the Saturn, police said.

After the holdup, Taber went to a bank near her home and deposited some of the money in her account and made a loan payment, Echavarria said.

Investigators have also linked Taber to a robbery at the U.S. Bank at 12112 Valley View Street also in Garden Grove on Jan. 8, 2014 based on the weapon and her unique disguise. She took $3,000 in that holdup, police said.
