Man Perched Atop Fullerton Roof In Custody After Holding Authorities At Bay For Hours

FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — A man perched atop a roof in Fullerton who held authorities at bay for more than five hours was taken into custody late Tuesday.

Police spent hours trying to convince the man to come off the roof of the apartment complex after the pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended nearby, authorities said.

The complex in the 400 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue was not evacuated as police worked to get the man to come down, but residents were shaken up.

That man stole a car from Anaheim and abandoned it nearby, police said, then made his way to the roof of the complex and refused to come down or talk with officers.

As of 11:55 p.m., the man had been taken into custody after spending more than five hours on the roof.

No injuries were reported.
