Piper The Runway Dog Becomes Internet Sensation

TRAVERSE CITY (CBSLA.com) — Many would agree that a dog wearing ski goggles on an airport runway is not your average sight -- except for passengers who regularly travel through a local airport in Michigan.

Piper the runway dog has become a viral sensation for his work at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City.

The 7-year-old Border Collie's main role involves chasing birds, geese, ducks and owls away from the taxiways at the airport -- after all, wildlife and planes don't mix well together!

A YouTube video of Piper performing his daily duties at the airport has been viewed more than 60,000 times since it was posted on Feb. 18.

Piper has worked at the airport since January 2015.
