Pico Rivera Woman Wins $600K From $1 Scratcher She Gets As Gift
PICO RIVERA (CBSLA.com) — A Pico Rivera woman is hundreds of thousands of dollars richer, thanks her real-estate agent. And Ana Avelar's new fortune did not come from buying a house.
Avelar recently had her house appraised. Agent Ramon Sanchez gave Avelar on June 4 a $1 Set for Life scratcher as a token of appreciation for her business.
When she got around to scratching it the next day, she found out she had won $2,000 a month for the next 25 years. That adds up to $600,000.
The 40-year-old woman said she was in disbelief at first. So she took her ticket to a 7-Eleven store to scan it.
"My son thought may be it wasn't real. So it wasn't until the next day that we went to 7-Eleven and wanted to actually check it. We realized it's real."
Avelar decide to take the lump sum of $348,000.
