Pico Rivera Neighborhood Evacuated After Teen Allegedly Set House On Fire

PICO RIVERA (CBSLA)   -- Authorities have evacuated a Pico Rivera neighborhood after a resident allegedly set his home on fire.

Desmond Shaw in Sky2 reported the unidentified male allegedly poured gasoline around the perimeter of his home.

Later, police confirmed to CBS2/KCAL9 that the arson suspect is 15. They said he got into a dispute with his parents and apparently decided to torch their home .

The teen is at large as of 10:30 p.m.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze in the 5500 block of Calico Avenue.

The neighborhood was evacuated as a precaution, officials said. By 10 p.m. residents were allowed to return to their homes.

LA County Sheriff's and LA County Fire both responded to the scene. LA County Fire could be seen standing on the home's roof.

One neighbor described what happened just before the fire was allegedly set.

"There was a kid in the house and he was getting all crazy inside the house," the neighbor said ,"and he was breaking things. So I guess the mother, she came out running across the street and told the neighbor and the neighbor called the cops."

Everyone inside the home got out safely, police said.
