Perris High School coach arrested for "inappropriate contact" with female students

CBS News Los Angeles

A Perris High School coach was arrested on suspicion of inappropriately touching female students on Thursday.

Jesse Antonio Gonsalez Lopez, 27 of Perris, was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center on Thursday after being taken into custody on suspicion of lewd acts on a child, sexual battery and annoying a minor, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. He was released on Friday, however, after posting $10,000 bond.

Deputies say that Lopez, a Perris High School athletics coach, was the subject of a possible "inappropriate contact" complaint made, alleging that several students were victimized.

Perris Union High School District administration opted to place Lopez on administrative leave while the investigation was conducted, deputies said.

He was arrested on Thursday morning at his apartment after detectives from RSO's Special Victims Unit were able to obtain enough information to secure an arrest warrant.

Anyone who may know more is asked to contact investigators at (951) 955-1698.
