Pennsylvania Man Convicted Of Killing, Dismembering Man In Downtown L.A. Hotel Room
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Pennsylvania man has been convicted of killing and dismembering a man in a downtown Los Angeles hotel room while acting out a grisly fantasy.
Edward Garcia Jr., 41, was convicted Tuesday of first-degree murder involving robbery and torture. He's facing life in prison without chance of parole.
Prosecutors argued that Garcia and his wife lured an acquaintance, 49-year-old Herbert Tracy White, to the Continental Hotel in November of 2010 and killed him while acting out a fantasy about carving up a human being.
Authorities say some of White's remains were found in a backpack and others under a blood-stained mattress.
Garcia's attorney acknowledged the killing but disputed that it was premeditated.
Garcia's wife, 30-year-old Melissa Hope Garcia, is awaiting trial.
