Pedestrian struck and killed on 101 Freeway in East Hollywood

A pedestrian was struck and killed on the 101 Freeway in East Hollywood early Tuesday morning, causing an hours-long backup on the busy roadway. 

It happened on northbound lanes near the Vermont Avenue ramps at around 6 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. 

Officers arrived and found the victim, only identified as a man, dead at the scene.

The ongoing investigation lasted for hours, closing two lanes as they looked into the circumstances surrounding the incident and why the pedestrian was on the road in the first place.
