SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com)   —  A pedestrian was killed Sunday evening in Santa Ana after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.

Authorities said the accident happened around 6:30 p.m.

The accident occurred on Fairview, between McFadden and Edinger, according to Desmond Shaw, reporting in Sky9.

As of 9:30 pm. he said officials were still waiting for the coroner to arrive on scene.

The suspect is believed to have caused another accident to the north and east on the 1900 block of Chestnut Street in Santa Ana. Shaw reported the suspect's vehicle hit a light pole. It was unclear if another vehicle was involved in the second accident.

Shaw said the suspect was still at large and police "clearly have their hands full with this one."

Fairview will be shut for several hours as investigators piece together what happened in the hit-and-run.
