Patti LaBelle Is Bringing New Cakes To Walmart After Sweet Potato Pie Success

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Patti LaBelle is bringing new desserts to Walmart after her sweet potato pies sold out last Thanksgiving.

The popular pies sold out in November at several Southern California stores after an online review by James Wright Chanel went viral.

The review was posted to Chanel's Facebook page and on YouTube and showed him trying the pie while breaking out into song and dance.

After the video was posted online, the pies sold at a rate of one per second for 72 hours.

LaBelle even invited Chanel to spend the holiday at her home in Philadelphia.

The new sweets include a vanilla pound cake with vanilla icing that retails for $6.98 and is currently being sold. On Walmart's website, the cake appeared to be "out of stock."

The other sweet is a caramel cake, which according to 94.7 The WAVE, will hit stores later this month.
