Passengers Questioned On Diverted LAX Flight Continue On To Indianapolis
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Three passengers questioned by the FBI about allegedly suspicious behavior aboard a Southwest Airlines jet from Indianapolis to Los Angeles were booked onto a later flight after the plane was diverted to Kansas City, the airline said Monday.
All passengers were taken off the plane after Southwest Flight 5929 was diverted to Kansas City International Airport at about 7:50 a.m. Sunday, according to a statement from Southwest Airlines' headquarters in Dallas.
"The flight crew made the decision to divert to Kansas City in response to several passengers, who did not follow crew instruction upon takeoff, and continued to exhibit suspicious behavior in-flight," according to the statement. No details were provided.
The reportedly suspicious passengers were questioned by law enforcement, and the aircraft and bags were thoroughly checked as a precaution before the flight was re-boarded, the airline said.
The flight departed Kansas City at 9:20 a.m. and arrived at LAX about one hour behind schedule.
